November was a busy month for United’s young loanees as we look back on an action-packed month for our four loan stars.
United striker Olaf Koszela returned to action for Tiverton on 10th November at home to Plymouth Parkway in the St Luke’s Bowl. Koszela created multiple chances for both himself and his teammates throughout the game, with Parkway’s ‘keeper forced to deny the young starlet on numerous occasions. However, Olaf broke through in the closing stages of the game, scoring two goals in three minutes, with the first seeing the 19-year-old get on the end of a curling corner to slot home, before minutes later begging a second, as his close range strike secured Tivvy a place in the Quarter Final with a 3-1 come-from-behind victory. Further league action was gained ten days later, but on this occasion, his introduction from the bench was unable to inspire his side to all three points, as visitors Hayes & Yeading held on for a scoreless draw.
Meanwhile, also at the Ian Moorcroft Stadium, a summer addition to The Gulls’ pro ranks, Alex Moyse has been finding his temporary stint at Town equally productive. The midfielder played the full 90 minutes alongside his fellow United loanee against Plymouth, before going onto join the Ambers’ FA Trophy action against Eastbourne Borough last Saturday from the bench in the 69th minute. Despite helping his side to get a goal back to make it 2-1 with fifteen minutes to go, Tiverton were unable to capitalise on a dominant second half performance, as Borough progressed.
In the north of the county, defender Louie Slough continues to get valuable match minutes under his belt, with a clean sheet in Bideford’s 6-0 away win at Stoke Gabriel & Torbay Police in the St Lukes Challenge Cup followed up by league action at home in the defeat to Winchester City (1-2) and the 2-2 draw against Frome, prior to Biddy suffering another narrow loss on the road at Slimbridge last weekend.
For the fourth member of the quartet, midfielder Scott Piper, match action hasn’t been quite so easy to come by after recovering from injury, however after returning to the matchday squad recently, Scott made a valuable contribution from the bench in the 2-0 away success at Yate Town at the end of October, before a similar outing as a substitute at home to Paulton Rovers was enough to help secure his side a valuable point in a scoreless draw at Silver Street.
