Torquay United Football Club is delighted to announce that left-back Liam Davis has signed a new contract.
Davis, 31, signed for TUFC in the summer of 2017. After a difficult start to the season overcoming a foot injury, Davis went on to make 33 National League appearances for United, impressing everyone with his athletic displays from left wing-back.
“I think it’s a really good club,” said Liam. “The disappointment of going down, for me personally, is a failure, so staying with a new goal of promotion, that is something that me that the whole squad can get their teeth into.
“Last season is done now, and you can’t dwell on it. You have to live in the present and look forward to the future. That’s what we’re going to be doing as a squad.”
Davis notes the progress the Club is making through upgrading facilities at both Plainmoor and Seale Hayne.
“The club itself has got the pitch sorted, and the training ground is getting sorted so everything is moving forward.”
TUFC head coach Gary Owers has been busy searching for the right type of players to bring to the Club.
“He’s expressed to me the players he would like to bring in and the goal for next season, well, we all know what that is without speaking about it.”
The Yellow Army will be looking forward to Davis getting a full pre-season under his belt.
“My pre-season was disrupted last year, but when I came back onto the pitch I showed everyone the qualities that I have. Now, hopefully, I’ll be even fitter.
“When I was younger pre-season was about running up hills, now there is a lot more science behind what we do. The balls come out sooner, and if you come back in good shape then it won’t be as big of a challenge.”
