Loan signings Scott Smith and Lucas Ness have been recalled by their parent clubs.

Scott Smith arrived on loan from Championship side Wigan Athletic in September, and went on to make 8 appearances for Gary Johnson’s side. Following on from the appointment of Kolo Toure at the DW Stadium this week, Smith will return to his parent club to be assessed by the side’s new management team.

Meanwhile, following on from a bout of injuries in the Charlton side, Lucas Ness has now returned to The Valley. The centreback made 8 appearances for United since joining the side in late October.

United Manager Gary Johnson reflected on the departures of Scott and Lucas, and thanked them for their service.

“We’re grateful to Scott for his service with us and understand that Wigan, with their new regime, would like to see all their players that are available to them, and so Wigan decided to call Scott back for that reason – which we totally understand,” began Gaffer.

“We also thank Lucas Ness for the time he’s been with us. However, Charlton have called him back due to several of their players being unavailable for them.

“I’m disappointed to lose both of them, but that’s how the loan deals work,” explained Gaffer.

Everybody at United would like to thank Scott and Lucas for their efforts during their time at the club.
