TULFC still left disappointed after being knocked out of the SSE Women’s FA Cup out on penalties by Brislington FC on Sunday.
A stunning and faultless performance from the Yellows, who were by far the superior team. They dominated large spells of the game and controlled and dictated play. TULFC created four or five chances in the first half. They fell to Jana Richards, Daisy Self and Sian Chapman but some great goalkeeping kept the match all-square.
Second half it was much the same. Brislington had a few chances but they were dealt with by the defence of Georgia Mann, Becca Wakley, Sarah Smith and skipper Alex Sheppard who showed her leadership qualities. Keeper Beth Marshall was confident and commanding in goal.
Self again came close, twice, with shots that were scrambled off the line in the dying minutes of injury time.
Extra time was played and neither team could find the break through, Chapman was working hard upfront and was well supported by Self and Hannah Eglon but they couldn’t sind a breakthrough. Penalties had to decide the game – final score 4-2 to Brislington. Steph Beck and Rhi Bailey scored from the spot.
