Torquay United boss Gary Johnson was amongst the interested parties who attended the official opening of South Devon College’s state-of-the-art Sports Centre on Friday.
Also in attendance were members of United’s coaching staff and first team squad, as well as representatives from Torquay United Community Sports Trust.
United’s new partnership with the College will see the club making use of the new 3G pitch and wider college facilities for training purposes. The completion of the brand new sports complex will also see the local community as a whole benefit, and Johnson was excited at this prospect.
“The facilities at the College including the new pitch are at the highest level, suitable for any professional team,” said Johnson. “I’m interested to see the local talent which will come through the academy in the years to come, the sports centre will go a long way to improving the standard of local football within the community.”
