Following the announcement of Frank O’Farrell’s passing, TUAFC will be paying tribute to their former manager at this evening’s game against Aldershot.

Ahead of kick-off, a one minute applause will be held in honour of Frank, with the Club delighted to confirm that members of his family will also be in attendance for the match, as guests of Torquay United.

Undoubtedly a legendary figure in The Gulls’ long history, O’Farrell’s first spell in charge of the Club during the 1960s saw United not only win promotion during his first season at the helm, but also establish themselves in the third tier of English football during the next two seasons. Even after leaving the Club to begin a career in the top-flight with Leicester City and Manchester United, Frank’s affection towards Torquay remained evident, and he would go on to enjoy two further spells in charge at Plainmoor in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

A special edition of 1899 Magazine will be available, which recounts his time on the English Riviera, along with a number of tributes to the great man. Copies will be available to purchase in the Club Shop and around the ground prior to kick-off, or can also be purchased online here.
