After one of the most exciting seasons for the Club in living memory, the Yellow Army responded in their numbers after being given the chance to award United’s star performer of 2020/21 with the ultimate accolade, by naming them as their Player of the Season.
This season’s vote has again been sponsored by Torbay Weekly, continuing our partnership with Torbay’s community-focused newspaper. This year, the vote was conducted directly via our official club website, and closed at 5pm on Monday, 24th May 2021.
Last season it was Ben Whitfield who picked up the senior honour, whilst his namesake Ben Wynter took home the Young Player of the Season award. Both players were sure to be strong contenders again this time around, however with every member of Gary Johnson’s squad scaling new heights in Torquay’s bid for promotion, it was bound to be a closely-fought contest, with even the Gaffer himself unable to pick a winner from the group.
“I wouldn’t dream of picking a player of the season,” began Johnson.
“For me, every player has given his full commitment and all his energy to me and this Football Club throughout the season. The personality of the group is first class, and if I had a daughter – which I haven’t – I’d be happy for any one of them to bring her home!”
Thanks for voting Yellow Army – an announcement regarding the winners will follow.
