Since announcing our partnership with Her Game Too in November, both on and off the pitch, its been a great season for women at TUAFC.
The Club launched its partnership with Her Game Too, a non-profit organisation that aims to combat sexism in football, by becoming the first club to offer a whole stand for the campaign for United’s home game against FC Halifax last November.
The day saw 1,000 free tickets made available for young girls and women in the Wollens Terrace, which also saw members of the United’s Women side in attendance to meet and greet the Yellow Army, whilst also showing their support for the movement.
Following a tremendous response by the Yellow Army and the local community, many tickets were claimed.
United’s commitment to the cause saw the Club receive the Her Game Too Hero Award for November.
Two months prior, United volunteer Emma Goulbourne was the recipient of the Vanarama National League Volunteer of the Month for September after volunteering in the Club’s youth department for four seasons.
Whilst off the pitch, 60% of the Club’s non-playing staff are female, on the pitch, this season it has also been a great campaign for Torquay United Women FC.
The Club’s Women’s side has made huge strides in recent seasons, and also in November, the side progressed into the 1st Round of the Women’s FA Cup for the first time.
In their league campaign the girls secured a top 4 finish, and today’s final marks the second county cup final the side has reached since 2013, meanwhile a number of the team has also represented Devon and Cornwall at Under 18 level this year.
TUWFC are set to take on local rivals Exeter City at Coach Road, Newton Abbot (TQ12 1EJ) this evening (7:15pm kick off) in the Click Hub Devon Women’s Premier Cup Final. For those wishing to support the team by attending, adult tickets are priced at £5, and concessions £3. Meanwhile for those unable to attend, full coverage will be available via TUFC Radio which can be accessed HERE, with broadcast beginning approximately 10 minutes before kick off.
