With a number of United’s youngsters seeing action with Gary Johnson’s men this pre-season, the U18’s preparations have continued recently with friendlies against Millbrook & Ottery St Mary.
With Brandon Quinn, Joel Greenslade, Callum Thomas, Kai Swann, Jayden Gilbert, Sam Bishop and Isaac Mccue all involved, the experience gained by the fledgling Gulls in rubbing shoulders with Gary Johnson’s first-team squad cannot be underestimated.
It certainly seems to have put them in good stead for 2022/23, with their first two games against senior teams ending in a 1-1 draw at Millbrook and a 4-1 defeat to Ottery St Mary, with goals coming from Brandon Quinn and Jayden Gilbert respectively.
The Under-18s – with former Gull Ryan Dickson now in charge – begin their South West Counties campaign on September 3rd.
