With the visit of Notts County now just a day away, Plainmoor is gearing itself up for this crucial encounter – and the Yellow Army have a vital role to play in it.

The last time Ian Burchnall’s Magpies made the trip to South Devon, a place in the National League 2020/21 Play-Off Final was at stake. Although there will be plenty of football still to be played after tomorrow’s game, no-one can deny that Saturday’s match may well prove pivotal for both sides’ aspirations to reach the 2021/22 showpiece in June.

In last season’s semi-final between the two sides, a restricted-capacity crowd at Plainmoor saw Torquay supporters occupy all four stands of the stadium, with the end result seeing the Yellow Army uncontested as they roared Gary Johnson’s side home. The United players visibly responded to the backing provided from the terraces, as the Club’s players, staff and supporters joined together for one common cause.

With restrictions long since lifted, our visitors tomorrow will take some comfort in the fact that their own travelling fans will be on hand to lend their support.

Therefore, we are urging the Yellow Army to not only turn out in force tomorrow, but to make as much noise as possible from the first minute to the last, as Johnson’s men look to continue their remarkable recent run of form by striking a blow against a side that shares the very same aim as those in Yellow.

Following a 2-1 win at Weymouth on December 4th, The Gulls have continued to back that up – amassing 35 points from just 18 outings – to see United rise up the National League table, with a place in the coveted top-seven now in view.

Back in early December, a difficult start to the campaign may have left some to assume that our promotion dream following last year’s near-miss was no longer on the cards, however for those behind the scenes at the Club, the focus on our goal never shifted, and home wins over the likes of Stockport and Wrexham since have only served to justify and strengthen that faith.

At Plainmoor tomorrow, we are calling on all our beloved supporters to share that belief, and give it your all, in the sure knowledge that each and every player will be replicating that out on the pitch, by giving absolutely everything to the cause.

Anything is possible when we are United together.

Yellow Army, this is your moment – over to you.
