Gary Johnson gave his thoughts following United’s 1-0 defeat at Dagenham & Redbridge on Saturday.
“Of course I’m disappointed that we haven’t taken a good opportunity to pick up points on our rivals. The game could have gone either way, both teams worked very hard,” said United’s boss.
“It was a scrappy game because both teams did work hard, and the chances we had – early on with Connor’s one, then we had one with Scott, we had one with Josh’s header, and then Benji had two or three shots that were blocked – meant the game could have gone either way. Then a horrendous mistake unfortunately by one of our lads, has cost us the game in the end.”
Despite the setback, Johnson sent out a defiant message, and assured the Yellow Army that his side are in no mood to give up, with thirteen fixtures still to be played.
“That’s how it is, so we’ve just got to keep going, keep believing in ourselves as we do, because there’s nothing else to do. The lads are disappointed, especially the lad who made the mistake, but we won’t be giving up on anything. This league is like that, and we’ve got to keep going, believing in what we’re doing, to the bitter end.”
