With the pitch works nearing completion, we caught up with United Groundsman Julian Gouldthorpe who provided an update in the next step of the ongoing pitch renovations.
The pitch is now looking very different to our previous update, with the grass now fully grown – the pitch has since had its first two cuts.
With pre-season edging ever-closer, groundsman Julian Gouldthorpe provided an update on how the renovations have recently been progressing.
“We gave the pitch its first cut on Thursday, at a height of 40mm; we’ve just taken a bit off the top to get it to thicken up.
“Today we’ve again cut it at 40mm – its second cut with a rotary mower again, just to take the top off.
“We’re looking at on Wednesday reducing the height for its third cut, and fourth cut on Friday,” explained Julian.
