The Yellow Army have till 4pm today (Monday 6th February) to decide who gets their vote for United’s Player of the Month for January.
With Gary Johnson’s side in impressive form throughout January, securing victories over FC Halifax Town, and Maidstone in the league, as well as FA Trophy progression with a 4-2 victory over Taunton Town, the month was then rounded off with a 1-1 draw at Woking, so there’s no shortage of candidates to win this month’s award.
August Player of the Month Mark Halstead has played every minute of the fixtures throughout January and has continued to impress with a number of crucial saves. Nominated alongside United stalwart Dean Moxey and Southampton loanee Nico Lawrence, United’s backline has held firm to secure two clean sheets, as well as the 1-1 draw at Woking at the end of the month.
Meanwhile December’s Player of the Month Shaun Donnellan has continued to impress with his versatility, being deployed in various defensive and midfield positions. Tom Lapslie has also been an ever-present in the side throughout January and has been a key component in the side’s midfield.
Dillon De Silva lit up January by scoring a great goal in United’s FA Trophy clash with Taunton, and the QPR loanee has continued to excite the Yellow Army with his displays down the wing thereafter. Enjoying his most successful goalscoring season to date, Aaron Jarvis has continued to prove himself to be a key component in United’s strike force. Having played every minute of every game throughout January, the forward scored three goals in five games across the month, including an all-important second-half brace against Taunton, which secured United’s progression in the Isuzu FA Trophy.
