With United gearing up for this afternoon’s highly anticipated West Country derby clash with Yeovil Town, the club is advising supporters to familiarise themselves with current matchday arrangements prior to arriving at the stadium.
Supporters are reminded to arrive at Plainmoor in plenty of time for kick-off, as no admittance into the ground can be granted after kick-off time. Full guidance can be viewed via our Supporters Code of Conduct Policy here, and also our Social Distancing – FAQs here.
Following a further review of England’s tier system by the UK Government which has seen tougher restrictions introduced to various parts of the country on Boxing Day, Torquay United AFC is reminding supporters of the implications this will have on exiled supporters living in these areas.
Exiled United supporters who are currently residing in Tier 3 or 4 areas are reminded that you should avoid travelling outside your area and reduce the number of journeys you make wherever possible, and therefore cannot attend matches at Plainmoor. At this present time, travel from Tiers 3 & 4 to Tier 2 areas in order to attend a football match is not permitted.
If you live in a Tier 3 or 4 area, you must continue to follow Tier 3 / 4 rules accordingly, when you travel to a Tier 1 or Tier 2 area.
Supporters should refer to the latest UK Government restrictions, both local and national, when considering travelling between areas in different Tiers (as designated by the Government from time to time.) Further guidance is available here.
A number of exiled supporters have purchased tickets over the past week whilst living under Tier 2 restrictions, but now find themselves in Tier 3 (or 4) by Boxing Day. Unfortunately in these circumstances, none of these supporters will be permitted to attend our Boxing Day fixture against Yeovil Town, or future matches at Plainmoor, until these restrictions are eased. The club have notified all affected supporters via email regarding this matter, and these tickets have now been cancelled.
Whilst we fully appreciate that Christmas is a very important time for families and friends, and that festive matches at Plainmoor plays a large part in these celebrations, the safety of everybody at Torquay United remains the Club’s priority, and therefore nobody from a Tier 3 or 4 area will be allowed access into the stadium on matchdays whilst these restrictions remain in place.
If someone attends Plainmoor, who lives in Tiers 3 or 4, then they will be subject to a ban for the rest of the season. The safety of our players, staff, supporters and local community is paramount.
We will be continuing to provide a live streaming service for all of our home fixtures for the foreseeable future, with passes for the Yeovil Town fixture being available for purchase here, whilst Season Tickets holders will continue to receive complimentary access to this service.
We look forward to the Yellow Army joining us at Plainmoor, or via our livestreaming service, later this afternoon for what promises to be another gripping encounter.
Come On You Yellows!
