Torquay United AFC is saddened to learn of the passing of former Gulls player Peter Darke.
Exeter-born full-back Peter joined Mike Green’s United in 1977, and went on to make 66 appearances for the Club in all competitions, before departing for non-League side Minehead two years later.
Prior to arriving at Plainmoor, Darke had already made a name for himself as a tough-tackling defender for Plymouth Argyle, for whom he made a century of League appearances.
A brief loan spell at Exeter City prior to joining Torquay meant Peter joined a select group of players to represent all three of Devon’s professional clubs.
