United take on Truro City at Plainmoor tonight (7:30pm kick-off)  in our last pre-season match of this campaign.

Torquay United player-manager, Kevin Nicholson, is eager to see tonight’s performance reflect the hard work that has been put in on the training ground. First though, he welcomes former Gull, Lee Hodges back to Plainmoor.

“I’m looking forward to the Truro game. Hodgey is a good friend of mine and there will be a few familiar faces turning out for them which, I’m sure, will add to the competitiveness of the fixture,” said Nicholson.

“It’s a game that I want my lads to go and enjoy by demonstrating all of the good habits they have been working on in Pre season, It will be a very good test for us as our last game before Tranmere and so I want to see energy, enthusiasm, work rate and quality football while they look to win the game and go into next week fresh and ready for the real thing.

“My lads have worked very hard in Pre season, they have been attentive, hard working and a pleasure to work with.

“This is the last chance to stake their claims for a starting spot but as it stands I think every single one of them has done that and that is a great “problem” to have for me and the staff.”
