Whilst the football season may have concluded, there’s still plenty of action out on the pitch, with renovations beginning recently on Plainmoor’s hallowed turf.
The hard work continues for United’s Groundstaff, as over the next few weeks, pitch renovations will see Plainmoor’s turf prepared for the return of pre-season footballing action in July.
Whilst the process is still in its beginning stages, Groundsman Julian Gouldthorpe provided an update on the process, as well as the next steps.
“We have taken the old pitch up. Because of the longevity of the pitch, the lifespan isn’t great – we’ve korroed the pitch to 16mm. We’ve got the company Inscapes in to do it,” began Julian.
“Once we’ve vert-drained, we then put the top dressing on top, that’s all brushed in ready for Monday, for the finishing touches of the seeds going down and then the growing stage to start.”
