Friday afternoon saw the return of Retro Gulls, TUAFC’s community-based initiative which focuses on promoting health and wellbeing in the over 50s.

On a bright March afternoon it was another good turnout from the Yellow Army at Boots and Laces, and was hosted by United’s Media Assistant Ian Brown.

Former United players Dave Rudge and Paul Trollope attended the event for a questions and answers session, before getting their thinking caps on and taking part in the quiz against the Retro Gulls teams.

Club Chaplains Jordan Williams and Tim Smith came along to give a talk about their important role within the club, as well as taking some questions from the Retro Gulls in attendance.

Once again Torquay United would like to thank those who came along to the event, and making it very informative and lots of fun. We look forward to you joining us for the next event on Friday 1st April 2pm-4pm.

About Retro Gulls

With the health and wellbeing in residents aged 50 and over widely recognised as another important aspect of community care within Torbay, supporters aged 50 and over will be invited to attend events in Boots & Laces once a month, with United stars present and past due to be in attendance for each meeting.

The Club will be focused on all things Torquay United, and will provide the opportunity to get Torquay talking. These events will give our ‘Retro Gulls’ the chance to discuss the current team, and those of yesteryear, with both fellow supporters and United stars past and present.

The events will vary each month, with future activities set to include fitness sessions, skittles, programme swap-shops, quizzes, bingo, workshops and much more!

Date for the next events are as follows:

  • Friday 1st April 2-4pm
  • Thursday 12th May 2-4pm

Retro Gulls events are provided by the Club free of charge for all United supporters aged 50 or over. Although booking is not essential, to reserve your space, please email [email protected] or phone 01803 328666 (Monday-Friday 10am-2pm)
