The United squad were in festive mood this week, as the squad paid their annual visit to Torbay Hospital’s Louisa Cary Ward.

Torbay Hospital’s Louisa Cary Children’s Ward provides specialist care for children aged between 0-18 with any medical, surgical or psychological conditions, and with a number of inpatients and their parents on the Ward heading into the Festive period, Assistant Manager Aaron Downes and the Gulls players were on hand to lift spirits and raise smiles, spending time talking to the families and staff, posing for photographs, and not to mention handing out a few gifts too!

Louisa Cary Fundraiser 2023

Torquay United AFC is proud to support the tireless for of everybody involved on the Louisa Cary Ward, and this Christmas, the Club has launched a number of fundraising initiatives in a bid to purchase another valuable piece of equipment for the Children’s War, with a new parent bed high on the Ward’s own Christmas List to Santa.

Torbay Hospital aims to have a parent bed aligned to every patient bed on the ward, ensuring parents are as comfortable as possible, whilst remaining by their child’s bedside.

Each bed costs around £1,500 and is specially manufactured for use in the hospital environment and can be cleaned and disinfected using the same products as used for all other hospital beds and mattresses. They will sleep adults up to 200kg safely and in comfort. While the NHS provides all the essentials on the ward, the Torbay and South Devon NHS Charity helps to fund the items, equipment and services over and above this which help to improve and enhance patient care.

To help the Club reach this target, TUAFC has launched a Christmas Raffle, with a number of fantastic prizes on offer, including a signed shirt, mascot package, £50 Mercure Voucher, a one night stay for two at the Cary Arms & Spa, and much more!

Raffle Tickets for our Louisa Cary Fundraiser 2023 are now available to buy in Boots & Laces and the Club Shop during opening hours, with raffle tickets priced at £2 per ticket, or 3 for £5.

The raffle itself will be drawn in Boots & Laces following our 2023 Children’s Christmas Tours on the afternoon of Thursday 21st December.
