Torquay United Association Football Club would like to place on record its gratitude to the Yellow Army, as well as the wider Torbay community, for its cooperation and adherence to the new protocols in place at Plainmoor on matchdays.

The health and safety of the players, staff, supporters and community is of the utmost importance to the club’s board of directors, and nothing is more important than a human life. At the club, whether in the stadium, offices, training ground, when travelling to away games or at away games themselves, we have strict covid protocols in place to protect all those concerned.

Yesterday it was brought to our attention that there had been three positive Covid-19 cases within the Chesham United first team. Firstly, the club would like to offer our best wishes to those concerned, and wish them all a full and speedy recovery. Chesham have informed us none of the three individuals were involved in Saturday’s fixture, or were in attendance at the stadium.

After learning of this development, Torquay United AFC have been in constant communication with Chesham United, as well as with our own club Medical Officer/Doctor, and have also discussed the situation with the National League’s Medical Officer.

As is the case before all matches and training sessions, all our first team and staff have been self- assessed and had their temperatures taken this morning, and we are happy to report that all are well, and there is no need to be concerned.
