Torquay United’s older youth teams may have taken centre-stage in recent weeks, however it’s also been a season to remember for our youngest age-groups.

Our Under 10s have excelled under the stewardship of coach Mitchell Sims this term, and having produced a number of fantastic performance, here we take a look back at their progress during the 2023/24 campaign.

Progress Report

The conclusion of the season for the U10s marked a period of success and consistency on the football pitch, with the team showcasing a high level of quality throughout the course of the whole campaign.

One of the standout features of their performance this season has been their ability to play attractive football. Their commitment to teamwork has also evident in their approach, allowing them to navigate through matches with confidence.

The Young Gulls demonstrated their adaptability by transitioning into 9v9 football, a testament to their versatility and understanding of different formations and tactics. This adjustment further solidified their status as a formidable force on the pitch, capable of competing at a high level regardless of the circumstances.

Overall, our U10s’ season was showcased by their exceptional combination play, teamwork, and ability to excel in various footballing games, with their consistent performances throughout the campaign being a testament to their dedication, skill, and determination to succeed.

Head Coach Sims has been delighted with their progress, and is understandably proud of his side.

“The boys have been brilliant all season and are a real joy to watch in terms of footballing ability,” said Mitchell.

“Some of the plays and possession football we’ve played this year have been pleasing to see.

“We step in to the Junior Premier League next season, and are really looking forward to the challenge and seeing the boys going to compete at a very high level.

“We’ve added Marc Hansford to the coaching team, who’s been a great help to me, and the lads and now excited for next season.”
