Torquay United AFC is delighted to announce the signing of experienced midfielder Kevin Dawson on loan until the end of the season.

Dawson, 32, arrives at Plainmoor from Gloucester City with a wealth of Football League experience, having made over 200 senior appearances for Yeovil Town, Cheltenham Town and Forest Green Rovers.

Having already signed Kevin twice before during his spells in charge of Yeovil and Cheltenham, United boss Gary Johnson is pleased to be reunited with the Dublin-born player once more.

“I’m very pleased to say that we’ve signed Kevin Dawson, who I know very well,” said the Gaffer.

“He was a big part of the Yeovil success story while I was there, helping us get to the Championship. Kev played in that Championship season, so it’s a real coup for us to get him down to Torquay for the remainder of the season, at least.”

After beginning his career in his native Ireland with Sporting Fingal and Shelbourne, Dawson’s first steps in the EFL saw him play a crucial role in Yeovil’s successful League One run-in, with Kevin going on to play in the 2012/13 Play-Off final, as The Glovers secured Championship football following a 2-1 win over Brentford at Wembley.

Although the second tier proved a tough test for a Yeovil side competing at that level for the first time in their history, the midfielder adjusted to the rise in standard well, making 35 appearances that season. Remaining with Huish Park club for a further three seasons thereafter, two years as a regular at Cheltenham followed, before a brief spell at League Two side Forest Green Rovers preceded another move across Gloucestershire, signing for Gloucester City in 2020.
